Eyelash extensions have become super popular in the last few years, and it didn’t take long for us to fall in love with them ourselves! Lots of women prefer lash extensions over other types of false eyelashes because they’re a great way to enhance their natural beauty. Not only that, but lash extensions are also far more comfortable and long-lasting, eliminating the need for mascara. With natural lash extensions, you can roll right out of bed, toss your hair up in a bun, and head out the door!

At Celebrity Skin Chicago, we offer faux mink lashes that are incredibly soft and natural-looking, making them the best eyelash extensions for women on a budget. When you visit our lash studio in Chicago, you’ll be able to choose between our classic eyelash extensions and volume lash extensions, which give your lashes a darker, fuller look. Whichever one you choose, we’re confident that you will love your faux mink eyelash extensions and will never turn back! Ready to get your first full set of eyelash extensions? Things To Know About Eyelash Extensions

If you’re thinking about getting eyelash extensions, there are a few things you should know about them. Essentially, lash extensions are glued to your existing eyelashes with a special type of adhesive, so you don’t ever take them off, except when you visit your local lash studio for a professional lash removal. Since the individual eyelash extensions are glued to your natural lashes, the first application can take up to two hours to complete. Then, all you need to do is quick lash extension touch-ups every three to four weeks until you decide you want them professionally removed.

How Long Do Eyelash Extensions Last?

Another thing to note is how long eyelash extensions last. The typical growth cycle of natural lashes is six to eight weeks, meaning that they fall out every couple of months. The same goes for your eyelash extensions, so you’ll need to schedule lash touch-ups every three to four weeks if you want to maintain the full look. Here is how much our lash fills and full sets of eyelash extensions cost:

Classic Eyelash Extension Fills:

  • Lash touch-up ($55) — done within the first week of your full set or eyelash fill
  • 2-week fill ($65) — must have at least 80% of your lashes
  • 3-week fill ($80) — must have at least 60% of your lashes
  • 4-week fill ($100) — must have at least 40% of your lashes

Volume Eyelash Extension Fills:

  • Lash touch-up ($80) — done within the first week of your full set or lash fill
  • 2-week fill ($100) — must have at least 80% of your lashes
  • 3-week fill ($130) — must have at least 60% of your lashes
  • 4-week fill ($155) — must have at least 40% of your lashes

Eyelash Extension Preparation

How long your eyelash extensions last depends on how well you take care of them, as well as how you prep for the treatment beforehand. At our lash salon, we recommend that you thoroughly wash the area around your eyes and eyelashes in the shower before you arrive for your appointment, since you won’t be able to shower for 24-48 hours when we’re done.

Also, don’t wear any eye makeup to your lash appointment, as we’ll need to remove it before we apply your eyelash extensions (which takes up time we could be using to apply more individual lash extensions). Our lash technicians are trained to provide the best eyelash extensions possible, and we can’t get to work until your eyelashes are clean, dry, and free of any oil and/or makeup.

Eyelash Extension Aftercare

The adhesive we use to apply eyelash extensions takes one to two days to cure, so we highly recommend not showering for a few days after your appointment. Shower steam and oils from your shampoo and conditioner can loosen the bond between your natural lashes and faux mink lashes, causing your lash extensions to fall off prematurely. For best results, avoid showering, steaming, or using a sauna for 48 hours after we apply your lash extensions.

Our lash technicians also recommend not using any oil-based makeup removers, cleansers, or makeup (such as eyeliner, mascara, and certain types of eye shadow), as these oils can loosen the bond as well. Also, refrain from fussing with the lashes too much, as rubbing or pulling on them can result in the individual eyelash extensions falling off. The same goes for mechanical eyelash curlers — these can cause the adhesive to wear down, resulting in your faux mink eyelashes falling out. Just do your best to leave them alone, and you should be fine!
